Synopsis:

Ex-marinier Jack Ryan (Chris Pine) wordt gerecruteerd door CIA agent William Harper (Kevin Costner) en gaat undercover als financieel analist op Wall Street. Wanneer hij stuit op verdachte transacties, die mogelijk wijzen op een grootschalig complot, reist hij af naar Moskou. Daar ontdekt hij dat Russische terroristen, onder leiding van Viktor Cherevin (Kenneth Branagh), de Amerikaanse economie proberen te vernietigen. Jack Ryan moet zich bewijzen als volwaardig CIA agent en komt in een levensbedreigende situatie terecht samen met zijn verloofde Cathy (Keira Knightley).
