Jurassic Park-auteur Michael Crichton overleden

De Amerikaanse schrijver Michael Crichton is dinsdag overleden in Los Angeles op 66 jarige leeftijd. CNN meld dat Crichton 'onverwacht' overleden is in zijn strijd tegen kanker. Het meest bekende werk van Crichton is Jurassic Park, dat in 1993 werd verfilmd door Steven Spielberg.

Daarnaast schreef hij onder andere The Andromeda Strain, Congo, Disclosure, Timeline, State of Fear, Prey en Next. Crichton werd geboren in 1942 en studeerde geneeskunde. Naast het schrijven van sciencefiction boeken was hij ook filmregisseur en producent van films en tv-series. Zo was hij bedenker, schrijver en producent van de populaire tv-serie ER.
