De Franse film The Artist gooit met 6 nominaties hoge ogen bij de Golden Globes, zo is vandaag bekend gemaakt.

Deze Franse "stomme" film van regisseur Michel Hazanavicius kreeg de nominaties voor beste film (komedie of musical), beste regisseur, beste scenario, beste acteur (Jean Dujardin) en beste actrice in een bijrol (Berenice Bejo) - dit terwijl Bejo een echte hoofdrol neerzet. The Artist is een ode in zwart-wit aan het Hollywood van de jaren '20 en '30.

Alexander Payne's The Descendants en Tate Taylors The Help kregen elk vijf nominaties, terwijl Woody Allens Midnight in Paris, George Clooneys The Ides of March en Bennett Millers Moneyball er elk vier in de wacht sleepten.

De door critici zeer goed onthaalde film Drive kreeg maar één nominatie; Albert Brooks voor beste mannelijke bijrol. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, waarvan verwacht werd dat Gary Oldman zou worden beloond met een nominatie voor beste acteur, staat zelfs met lege handen.

De uitreiking van The Golden Globes vind plaats op zondag 15 januari in Los Angeles.
