De 10 BAFTA nominaties (de Britse Oscars) gevenLincoln, de biopic van Steven Spielberg over de 16e president van de Verenigde Staten, de meeste kansen. Alleen een nominatie voor Beste Regisseur wist de film niet in de wacht te slepen. De musicalLes Miserables van Tom Hooper kreeg negen nominaties, evenalsLife of Pi van Ang Lee, gevolgd door acht voorSkyfall en zeven voorArgo. Goed ontvangen films alsZero Dark Thirty enThe Master werden met respectievelijk vijf en vier nominaties relatief onderbedeeld.
Met dit nieuws is het filmprijzenseizoen nu echt in volle gang. Op 10 januari worden de Oscar-nominaties bekend gemaakt en op 13 januari worden de Golden Globes uitgereikt. De uitreiking van de BAFTAS vindt plaats op 10 februari in Londen, twee weken voor de Oscaruitreiking.
