Benedict Cumberbatch niet in Star Wars VII of Doctor Who

Benedict Cumberbatch meldt dat de kans is uitgesloten voor een mogelijk optreden in Doctor Who als ook in Star Wars VII.

De Britse acteur, die tevens te zien is in de veelgeprezen serie
Sherlock van Steven Moffat, heeft in het verleden herhaaldelijk aangegeven dat hij niets in zag om de rol van de dokter te spelen, ondanks berichten vorig jaar dat hij in de race was om de rol over te nemen van Matt Smith.

De Radio Times meldt dat Cumberbatch op 12 april tijdens de Oz Comic- Con fans verder teleurstelde door alle geruchten de kop in te drukken:  “ I’m never gonna play the Doctor – and nothing to do with the Whouniverse.”

Cumberbatch stelt ook dat de geruchten dat hij een rol heeft binnen de lang verwachte Star Wars VII ongegrond zijn:  “ I would’ve liked a part in JJ’s new Star Wars but it won’t happen, sadly.”

Cumberbatch, die vorige maand nog aangaf dat hij zich overexposed voelde na rollen in onder meer Sherlock, 12 Years a Slave, Star Trek Into Darkness en The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug, zal Richard III spelen in het gelijknamige Shakespearedrama van BBC 2.
